SYSTEM SUPPORT NQF LEVEL 5 CREDITS 147 (SAQA ID: 48573)


The National Certificate: Information Technology: System Support is designed to develop learners with the competencies based on the skills profile for the system support career path. Learners build on foundational technical skills acquired at NQF level 4, via the FETC: IT Technical Support or equivalent.

  • Hardware and Infrastructure Support for personal computers
  • Data Communication and Network Support
  • Hardware and Infrastructure Support for office products, with further specialisation(s) into IT Support fields or in any other related markets

QUALIFICATION RULES 

The qualification consists of a minimum of 147 credits and has been designed in accordance with the SAQA rules of combination 

Rules regarding Fundamental, Core and Electives 
1. All fundamental outcomes are compulsory for this qualification (40 credits) 
2. All core outcomes are compulsory (77 credits) 
3. A minimum of 30 elective credits need to be completed. 

 

EXIT LEVEL OUTCOMES 
A learner will be able to:

  • Use a logical methodology to troubleshoot the common types of hardware and software problems typically encountered in the day-to-day operations of a department in an organisation. 
  • Understand the role of technology in the business context. 
  • Demonstrate basic application support skills
  • Demonstrate operating system support skills
  • Demonstrate network support skills
  • Relate business problems and information technology solutions
  • Demonstrate appropriate technical reporting skills
  • Demonstrate appropriate customer care in the context of IT support
  • Function appropriately in a change management process within a support team
  • Demonstrate hardware support skills for server 11. Demonstrate an understanding of Systems Support contextualised within a selected work area

 

 ENTRANCE CRITERIA:

  • Grade 10 AND
  • Learners must be at least 16 years of age AND
  • CompTIA A+ Knowledge 
  • Networking Knowledge

HOW IT WORKS

Learners attend instructor- led sessions at our Richards Bay centre, training includes practicals. Seats are limited to 08 learners per class ensuring each learner receives individual attention and gain the required skill to perform tasks at hand. 


ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION


Learners are assessed continuously throughout their learning experience at InfoAvenue to ensure understanding and skill gain. On successful course completion learners will receive InfoAvenue Course Mastery Certification. International exams are optional and can be written at any Pearson Vue Testing Centre in South Africa at a fee.
